News:- SC clears Centre’s plan to build a three times bigger Parliament

Supreme court said that elected government has every right to take policy decisions and make errors or succeed in them, there is no need for heightened Judicial Review by the Courts.

Courts are not there to judge which policy decision should be taken in priority.

Judicial Review is implicit in the article 13 and article 136 of the Indian Constitution. It is also part of the basic structure doctrine which came in the Keshavananda Bharti case of 1973.

Judicial Review as a term has not been mentioned anywhere explicitly in the constitution.

States on alert as fear of bird flu grows:-

Several States sounded an alert to contain avian influenza, or H5N8, while Kerala began culling of thousands of ducks.
Nearly 2,000 migratory birds were found dead in Himachal Pradesh, while Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh reported deaths of several hundred birds. In Haryana, the “unusual” deaths of four lakh poultry birds have been reported in the past 10 days, but there is no confirmation on whether they died of avian influenza.

World Bank in its report Global Economic Prospects has reported that Global economic output is projected to grow by 4% in 2021 assuming widespread rollout of a COVID19 vaccine throughout the year.

Other Observations :- Global Debt has increased. The South Asian region’s economy is expected to contract 6.7 % in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Asian Waterbird Census2020 commenced in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday under the aegis of experts from the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), covering at least two dozen sites, including Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, Kolleru Lake and Krishna Sanctuary.

About BNHS :– The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), a pan-India wildlife research organization, has been promoting the cause of nature conservation since 1883. A Bird named Indian Skimmer is Endangered in the IUCN status was also mentioned.

PM inaugurates Kochi-Mangaluru LNG pipeline:

PM Modi inaugurates the 450-km Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline built at cost of ₹3,000 crore

The 450 km long pipeline has been built by GAIL (India) Ltd.

India is focusing on gas-based economy and lot of work is being done on ‘One Nation, One Gas Grid‘. The gas-based economy is also crucial for Atmanirbhar Bharat,”

Natural gas pipeline network to be doubled in 5-6 yrs; CNG stations to be raised to 10,000 from current 1,500,”

The pipeline will supply environment-friendly and affordable fuel in the form of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to the transportation sector.

The plan was to increase the share of natural gas in the energy sector from the present 6% to 15% by 2030.
