1)Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), a sub-scheme under Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, has been universalized from 1.4.2018 for the out-of-school girls age group of 11-14 years for their self-development and empowerment to improve their nutrition and health status, promoting awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition, Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH).
2)Setting Up of National Technical Textile Mission:- The government has approved the proposal for creation of National Technical Textiles Mission for a period of 4 years (2020-21 to 2023-24).
The focus of the Mission is for developing on usage of technical textiles in various flagship missions, programmes of the country including strategic sectors.
The use of technical textiles in agriculture, aquaculture, dairy, poultry, etc. Jal Jivan Mission; Swachch Bharat Mission; Ayushman Bharat will bring an overall improvement in cost economy, water and soil conservation, better agricultural productivity and higher income to farmers per acre of land holding in addition to promotion of manufacturing and exports activities in India.
Other Component of the Mission :- A sub-component of the research will focus on development of bio degradable technical textiles materials, particularly for agro-textiles, geo-textiles and medical textiles. It will also develop suitable equipment for environmentally sustainable disposal of used technical textiles, with emphasis on safe disposal of medical and hygiene wastes.
3)Viterbi Program:- First Let’s Understand What is IUSSTF :-
IUSSTF was established under an agreement between the Governments of India and the United States of America in March 2000.
It is an autonomous bilateral organization jointly funded by both the Governments that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation through substantive interaction among government, academia, and industry.
The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Governments of India, and the U.S. Department of State are respective nodal departments.
The Viterbi Program of IUSSTF was developed between IUSSTF and the Viterbi School of Engineering. The program provides an opportunity for Indian students pursuing a Bachelors’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computational Sciences at a recognized institution of higher education and learning in India to undertake a research internship at the Viterbi School of Engineering for a period of 8 weeks.
