1)First digital exhibition on Indian Heritage inaugurated:- This exhibition is first of its kind in the country.
On January 15, 2020, the State of Culture and Tourism minister launched a month long exhibition on Indian Heritage in New Delhi. The exhibition was launched in digital space and will stay online till February 15, 2020.
2)GoI launches Saksham, a mega campaign on fuel conservation:- The Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) operating under Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas will launch fuel conservation campaign on January 16, 2020.
The campaign will create awareness among public about fuel conservation. PCRA has been conducting Saksham campaigns in different parts of the country.
3)WHO releases Global Health Challenges for 2020:- Every year, the World Health Organization releases list of Global Health Challenges of the forth coming year.
The list included 13 potential threats. The foremost threat was Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) and climate crisis.
More than one-quarter of death is due to stroke, heart attack, chronic respiratory disease and lung cancer. The chances of these diseases are increased by raising levels of air pollution.
A new entrant to the list of top 13 potential threats is Lack of Access.
Shortage of health care workers is also the major global concern.
4)Annual Status of Education Report 2019:- On January 14, 2020, the Non-Profit Organization Pratham released its annual report, Annual Status of Education Report, 2019. The report is based on the survey conducted in 26 districts that covers 36,000 children in the age group of 4 to 8 years.
Number of girls enrolled in government schools is higher than number of boys. On the other hand, number of boys enrolled in private institutions is higher than that of girls.
The report says that around 56.8% of girls and 50.4% of boys are enrolled in government schools.
Suggestions of the report:–
The existing network of Anganwadi Centres should be strengthened and expanded.
Stress on Cognitive learning should be there.
The Family environment especially the mothers education is important determinant of Childs learning.
Early language, numeracy, social and emotional learning tasks are closely related to age of the children. Therefore, it is mandatory to put children into primary grades at the right age.
